A strong partnership with the City of Appleton and the downtown businesses and properties is essential to our mission and is at the very core of downtown's success.
ADI has benefited from an excellent working partnership with the City of Appleton. This has allowed for successful projects throughout the central business district, such as the riverfront development, the continuation of the downtown streetscape, special events and new attractions like "The Big Picture". Other vital partners include our members, local non profit organizations and civic groups, the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce.
How we came to be…
The businesses and property owners of downtown Appleton have adopted a Business Improvement District (BID) that includes most of the central business district in the downtown. A Board of Directors governs the BID, which is a self-taxing entity that contracts with ADI to develop and promote the downtown. ADI is directed by the BID to carry out an annual operational plan that is approved by both the BID Board of Directors and the Common Council.
ADI is governed by a Board of Directors, which is comprised of community leaders, downtown business and property owners, and concerned citizens.
