Event Highlights


There's always something going on Downtown. Throughout the year, a series of events bring thousands of people Downtown for fun, food and entertainment.

Here's a quick look at Downtown Appleton's Annual Events:

DEATH BY CHOCOLATE
College Avenue, (Valentine's Day) February 14, Downtown becomes a dessert-lovers' paradise as restaurants feature their tasty treats. 11 different restaurants feature a taste of their best chocolate goodies. 4:30 to 8:30 on Valentines day, tickets are $20.00 per person or $35.00 per couple -- and every two-some is a couple on Valentine's Day!

DOWNTOWN APPLETON GIVING HOPE
DOWNTOWN CARES
Look for the pink ribbons and shop downtown.  A percentage of proceeds from sales by businesses displaying the ribbon will be donated to the American Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer programs and research.  Enjoy all that Downtown Appleton has to offer while supporting a great cause May 1-10!

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
College Avenue, May 25, 2009 at 9 a.m.
Help us remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

DOWNTOWN COOL TROLLEY
Designed to fit the weekend warrior in all of us. Running June 4 through September 24, Thursday – Saturday, it's the perfect way to get around Downtown and to our beautiful Riverfront. Take the trolley to enjoy the sights, sounds and delicious smells of our vibrant area. TROLLEY HOURS*:
Thursday and Friday 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. 

ART ON THE TOWN
3rd Friday of the Month: June, July, August and September from 6:00 – 9:00pm
Downtown's art museum, galleries, studios and stores open their doors to allow the public to experience their favorite or a brand new form of art!  14 venues featuring a variety of artist demonstrations, music and refreshments.

FLAG DAY PARADE
College Avenue, June 13, 2009 at 2 p.m.
Come enjoy the nation's largest Flag Day Parade as we celebrate America with bands, floats and other displays.

DOWNTOWN APPLETON FARM MARKET
College Avenue, every Saturday, June 20 – October 31
8:00am - 12:30pm. (See below for the Indoor Market)
Experience the area's largest Farm Market with more than 100 vendors selling fresh fruits, flowers and vegetables, exotic meats and cheeses, breads and baked goods, specialty foods and handcrafted items along with live music and free newspapers.  PLUS enjoy the restaurants, retail stores, the Building for Kids Children's Museum and all that Downtown Appleton has to offer! 

DOWNTOWN APPLETON ART MARKET
College Avenue, Third Saturday of the Month: June , July, August, September & October 8:00am - 12:30pm

Combining the success of Art on the Town and the Downtown Appleton Summer Market, ADI has created Art Market, a fine art and craft event to be held in June - October. 

GET GREEN MARKET
College Avenue, Fourth Saturday of the Month:  June, July and August  8:00am - 12:30pm
A market featuring products that help Reduce, Recycle and Reuse the earth's resources.

HEID MUSIC SUMMER CONCERT SERIES PRESENTED BY BUD LIGHT LIME
College Avenue, Thursdays, June, 25 through August 27. Move, groove and relax to the rhythm of 10 of the region's hottest bands during free concerts in Houdini Plaza. While Downtown, visit one of our more than 70 restaurants, pubs and clubs for a bite to eat or something cool to drink.  Also enjoy our Special Feature Show on Friday, June 19.

ART IN THE PARK
City Park,  July 26, 2009
Check out artists' wares, grab a bite to eat or just sit back and relax to the music during the area's premiere art festival held in City Park.

LICENSE TO CRUISE & OCTOBERFEST, a program of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce.
College Avenue, September 25 & 26, 2009. Two separate events on two different days that add up to a weekend of great fun! License to Cruise kicks off on Friday night when hundreds of classic cars line The Avenue. On Saturday, Octoberfest -- Appleton's biggest festival -- draws 100,000 people Downtown to enjoy live music, arts and crafts, a family fun area and tons of mouth-watering festival food items.

DOWNTOWN APPLETON INDOOR FARM MARKET
City Center Plaza (10 College Avenue)
Saturdays, November – March
9:00am - 1:00pm
The Downtown Appleton Farm Market will continue throughout the winter.  Products will change each week, so don't miss out. The season will begin with fall veggies, squashes, lamb, elk, bison and other meats and poultry, breads and baked goods, quality handcrafted items, apples, shrimp & fish, jewelry, rugs, and more – along with live music and free newspapers. PLUS enjoy the restaurants, retail stores, the Building for Kids Children's Museum, and all that Downtown Appleton has to offer!

DOWNTOWN APPLETON INDOOR ART MARKET
College Avenue, Third Saturday of the Month: October, 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM and November through March 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
A fine art and craft event featuring more than 20 vendors to be held in conjunction with the Downtown Appleton Farm Market. 

SOUP WALK
College Avenue, Saturday, October 17.
A new event featuring downtown restaurants and their best soups.  Try a taste at each of the different venues and vote for your favorite.  More details coming soon.

DOWNTOWN APPLETON HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE
Downtown Appleton is hosting a Holiday Open House  in November 6-7, 2009.  Enjoy free cookies as you stroll the Avenue and Riverfront and shop the 60 + unique shops.  Feel good about shopping local and supporting our Independent Businesses.

DOWNTOWN APPLETON CHRISTMAS PARADE
College Avenue, November 24, 2009  6:25 p.m.
Begin your celebration of the holidays with this evening parade featuring bands, floats, local groups and, of course, Santa Claus himself.

Please note:  per City of Appleton ordinance, no pets are allowed at any of these events.
