Appleton Flag Day Parade to Honor U.S. Air Force

4jetsThe 66th Annual Appleton Flag Day Parade will pay tribute to the United States Air Force and the many faces of freedom.  The oldest Flag Day Parade in the nation is scheduled for Saturday, June 11th at 2:00 p.m.

This year’s parade theme is “Let Freedom Ring”.  The event will feature military units and military marching bands from throughout the nation.  It will include about 100 total units consisting of veterans' organizations, drum and bugle corps, scout troops, patriotic floats, decorated vehicles, walking units and area marching bands.

“We honor a different branch of the military each year,” according to Greg Otis, Parade Chairman.  “This is the Air Force year to feature and celebrate. We have military musical and drum groups scheduled from all over the country.”

The parade begins at 2 p.m. from Wisconsin Avenue and Oneida Street, heading west.  At State Street, it turns left and proceeds south to College Avenue.  At College, it turns left again and proceeds east to Drew Street, dispersing at Drew Street and College Avenue.

WFRV-TV Local 5 will videotape the parade for re-broadcast in the Green Bay/Fox Cities area. This will allow viewers in all of Northeastern Wisconsin to see the parade.
