New Vacuums = Much Happiness!
By Anne Wiegman
Those of you that know me, know that I love to have things neat and clean. Vacuuming is one of my favorite chores.
So I was secretly pleased that the handle on my old vacuum had broken once again. This meant I could get a new one!
I studied the ads last weekend to see what was available. I even stopped at a store, but of course I was overwhelmed by both the selection and the lack of help.
That's when I decided to wait until Monday and shop at Wettengel's Sew & Vac Shop at 532 W. College Ave. I had taken my sewing machine there for regular maintenance over the years and knew they were always helpful.
I stopped in about 4:58 p.m. on Monday after work. I immediately asked if they were about to close and Tom Wettengel assured me that it was fine and asked what he could help me with. He listened while I explained my need for a new vacuum and the type of cleaning I needed it to do. He showed me several models taking the time to clearly explain the differences. When I selected my new Riccar upright, he explained all the little things that would optimize its performance.
Then I remembered to add that I also wanted something to easily vacuum my basement stairs and inside cars. He again patiently showed me the best model for that and why it was the best. Citing the right tool for the right task rule, I decided I needed another vacuum.
So I also became the proud owner of a new Electrolux Sanitaire. He added a package of free bags for each model and helped me carry them to the car.
He also thanked me sincerely for shopping Downtown.
I could hardly wait to get home and try them out. And, I'm happy to say that I love them both!
