Ethnic Dining Downtown Appleton
by Lynn Peter for the Fox Cities blog
Downtown Appleton is well known for its ethnic restaurants and I’ve recently had a chance to try two that were new to me. It turns out Dong Po, located at the corner of College and Richmond, is an excellent lunchtime choice. The first page of the menu lists a large selection of lunch specials priced very reasonably between $6.50 and $7.50. And get this, for that price you get soup, an eggroll and a generously sized entrée! I had the Hunan Chicken and it was very good. My pal Sue had the “Amazing Chicken” and she said it was indeed, amazing. You can see the whole menu and get lots of details at www.dongporestaurant.com.
Dinner at Bella Vita
New to downtown Appleton, the Bella Vita Ristorante is located inside the CopperLeaf Hotel. If you’re looking for a quiet, intimate place to catch up with a friend, the bar at the Bella Vita is just the place. We were having such a nice time together that we decided to stay for dinner. The restaurant is lovely, with natural stone and subdued colors. Like the bar, it offers a feeling of intimacy and it’d be great for a date. Nancy claims to be a ravioli snob, so I wasn’t at all surprised that she ordered the “featured” ravioli, which she described as absolutely delicious. You can check out the menu at www.bellavitacopperleaf.com.
