Downtown Even MORE Special Around the Holidays

No matter what time of year it is, one thing that makes holidays so special are the traditions we observe. It might be the turkey dinner at Thanksgiving, or fireworks on the 4th of July, but each holiday brings with it warm memories from years of observing the same traditions. It gives our year structure and something for us to look forward to.
One of my favorite traditions around Christmastime is the Angels on the Avenue in Downtown Appleton. As autumn wraps up and the chill in the air gets more intense, I begin to watch for dedicated City staff to hang the silver and gold decorations that announce the holiday season. Like a trumpet's clarion call, the arrival of the angels tells us that it's time for other beloved traditions: hanging the stockings, shopping for gifts, meals or drinks with friends and family.
Looking around the Downtown during the Christmas season you can't help but get in the spirit! Watching the Christmas Parade, running the Santa Scamper, enjoying a Dirty Snowball at Cleo's, and reveling in Cory Chisel's Evening of Holiday Mischief. These are all parts of my holiday traditions. Whatever traditions you observe, make Downtown a part of it. The Angels are sure to get you in a festive mood!
