What service(s) and/or product(s) do you offer?

Float Light guides those seeking a place to relax, decompress and heal the mind, body and spirit withFloatation Therapy. It’s for the introspective traveler seeking Sensory Deprivation to achieve creative insight or experience something truly unique. We guide people on a Journey “Floating Light,” a revolutionary new form of Mental, Physical and Spiritual Therapy, a place where you disconnect with the chaotic external world and reconnect with your innermost consciousness. We built and engineered state of the art sensory deprivation tanks that are carefully controlled environments filled with only 10 inches of water and over a ton of our custom blend of Epsom salts. These environments create the incredible sense that your physical body is melting away. As you float, the absence of light, noise, and gravity create a private, nourishing environment where you can restore mind and body, and explore your innermost consciousness.

What inspired you to start your business?

It was almost as though fate was guiding us to bring Float Light to fruition. Our first experience floating changed the course of our lives. That one float produced an explosion of concepts and ideas that would eventually become Float Light Float Center. We initially didn't intend to start a business rather find a way to regularly implement floatation therapy into our wellness routine. Early development started as a do-it-yourself project in our basement which then manifested into a several yearlong project resulting in Float Light Float Center.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

Have No Expectations, Just Let Go...

What's something about your business nobody knows?

We have a secret laboratory behind the chalkboard sharing wall, this is where we invent all of our unique often misunderstood ideas and concepts. We also speak alien, we learned it in the float tank.

What do you love most about being in Downtown Appleton?

Downtown Appleton had always been a favorite destination for our family particularly because of the aesthetically pleasing architecture, unique storefronts, events and culture, and especially the arts. Most importantly was the support, guidance and kindness of neighboring business and local organizations. Most of all are the memories we hold dear to our hearts, as children we remember spending time with family watching the wonderful parades, visiting the Houdini Museum and seeing all the unique things there was to see Downtown. As a child just taking a walk downtown was so impactful, it’s like a mini vacation from the mundane.

If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?

Many would say we already have superpowers, perhaps we already are a super-hero. We possess the power to heal many who are suffering physical, mental or emotional pain. The power to take our guests on a Journey where they disconnect with the chaotic external world and reconnect with their innermost consciousness. Finally, we possess the ability to unlock human potential, creating other super-heroes who have the power to change the world.

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be and why?

Neuro-Psychiatrist, Dr. John C. Lilly, The inventor of the sensory deprivation tank and conducted academic research in the 1950s and 1960s.

Benjamin Franklin, we think he would have really loved floating. His diary captures his astonishment at profound world to be unraveled in deep sensory isolation and mediation.

Robin Williams, avid traveler of the void. Actually had a float tank in his home for personal use. He has been quoted many times about this comic inspiration coming from the state of mediation, often while floating.

Joe Rogan, Former host of Fear Factor and star of the Joe Rogan Experience. Joe Rogan has been a huge influence on our personal interest as well as several others involving sensory deprivation.

What 3 items would you take with you on a deserted island?

Float Tank “Well what else would you expect us to say, it’s the only escape!”

Tesseract “Four-dimensional object capable of warping space and time.”

The sudden realization that I’m actually floating… “I’ll just manifest whatever I desire ;)”

If you had to describe your business as an animal, which one would it be and why?

Unicorn, because what other non-mythical creature could hold up to the uniqueness that is the Journey Floating Light. We like to think that this Unicorn also has wings and can breath fire, because… Why not!

If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?

We totally are aliens here at Float Light, so we say… A Galaxy Far Far Away, Space Themed Michael Jackson attire “Most commonly known as the 80’s”

What’s the weirdest food you have ever eaten?

That thing that says “Do Not Eat” in boxes, seriously… DO NOT EAT THAT PACKET!!

"Note this answer is in no way affiliated with the brilliant minds at Float Light :p"

Something else fun and unique about your business you want to share?

Float Light was invented based on truly unique principles not often observed among start up businesses. Our primary service is inherently unique, we pioneered many new technologies within our industry and created a facility not only unique to Downtown Appleton but the entire world. Our founding principles outline focus on adapting and integrating into the local community. This is achieved by providing the local community and our guests ability to direct Float Light creativity, culturally and spiritually. Implementing these principles has led to several unique characteristics of Float Light such as our active and engaging community of supports and guests we call the Float Family. These relationships have blossomed into friendships and deeply rooted bonds.

Float Light has become a haven for those looking for creative inspiration. This led to the creation of our Artist program, featuring local artists such as Tyler Hilfreich who had become inspired from the experience Floating Light.

Our commitment to the events and community endeavors of Downtown Appleton such as Art on the Town and the Mile of Music have brought us unique and exciting opportunities to evolve, collaborate and introduce Float Light as a unique community-based business. Our artists who participated in Art on the Town were some of the first adaptors of these community based programs.

We have been sought out by influences such as Youtuber Josh Russell and entrepreneur Energy Star Andrew which led to our inspiration to Live Stream events such as Art on the Town and the Mile of Music, where we hosted a renegade stage with an artist Mitch Munster on the singing bowls. We started featuring guests on a weekly show that we stream to 5 different social media platforms called the Floating Light Live. During these live streams we had the beautiful Downtown College Ave as our backdrop where onlookers could see the excitement from within Float Light and make a brief appearance on the show. Most importantly, we are committed to giving back in any way we are reasonably able, with our charitable contributions to several organizations and many who have become part of our Float Family. One notable contribution was to help raise money for the husband and daughter of one of our guests we loved dearly who suddenly passed away. The community and our guests are the most important attribute of our business, because they are what embodies the heart and soul of Float Light.
