CONGRATULATIONS TO GREG OTIS ON BEING THIS YEAR'S BERNIE PEARLMAN "DOWNTOWNER" AWARD WINNER! 

The Bernie Pearlman "Downtowner" Award is presented to a person whose dedication and enthusiasm has had a significant positive impact on Downtown and who displays an overwhelming passion for its success.  In honor of Bernie Pearlman, a wholehearted Downtowner.

There's no denying that Greg Otis is a well-deserving recipient of this award.  Greg has been involved in many Downtown projects over the years.  He was part of the Appleton Flag Day Parade & Memorial Day Parade committees for 50 years, part of the Appleton Downtown Christmas Parade committee for 40+ years, part of numerous other Downtown events including Thursday night Concerts in Houdini Plaza, Octoberfest, Mile of Music, Mini Golf on the Town, Juneteenth, and so many more in between.  It was rare to be at an event downtown and NOT see Greg Otis at the event working, volunteering, or simply enjoying.

Greg is passionate about shopping local and supporting the strong entertainment district.  He loved being a part of any initiative that helped to bring people downtown to showcase the small businesses and ultimately the City of Appleton.  He believes a strong downtown is the base of a strong city!

He has been a proponent of downtown for years - he had a business downtown over 40 years ago, he lives here and raised his family here, and he passed on the love of downtown and his hometown to his family who are now also active in the city and its quality of life.When receiving this award, Otis shared" I am proud of my city.  Its volunteer base is second to none.  I have volunteered for many events that have enhanced our city.  I knew Bernie Pearlman and am sure he would be proud of the traditions we have maintained.  I will continue to use whatever talents I may have to ensure that Appleton remains One Great Place!"
