Light Up The Fox Community Candlelight Procession

Screen Shot 2012-12-26 at 9.40.28 AMLight up the Fox is hosting a community candlelight procession at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve.  The event kicks off in the parking lot near Lock 3 and Newberry Trail (Lawe Street entrance) and includes a loop around Eagle Flats and back.

The group is hosting the processional to celebrate Appleton’s rich history while reflecting upon the past, present and future of the riverfront.  Candles will be distributed to all participants and the procession will be ceremoniously led along Lawe, Vulcan, Eagle Flats Parkway, and Oneida Streets, and returning to the origin along the Newberry Trail.

Prior to the walk, a short presentation about the Native American medicine wheel will be given to recognize the Fox River's early ancestors.  Native American cultures used the medicine wheel to seek balance among the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of life.  The circular shape of the wheel reflects nature's circular patterns and cycle of the seasons.

Event goers are asked to bring flashlights to help light the way.  For more information, go to: Candle Light Walk
