Appleton Downtown, Incorporated (ADI), will welcome shoppers and usher in the cold weather season with the opening of its newly extended Downtown Appleton Indoor Winter Farm Market on Saturday, Nov. 1, in City Center Plaza. Market hours are 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Saturday.

ADI has just extended the Indoor Market by two months from prior years, giving it a six-month run through May 30, 2015. The additional time ensures that fresh Farm Market goods are available to Market-goers year round – as the Outdoor Market makes its return next June for its run through October 2015.

“We are excited to make the Farm Market a year round source for locally produced fresh foods and handmade items, making Downtown Appleton a destination spot for Market-goers all year long,” noted Djuanna Hugdahl, ADI farm market director.

In addition to staples such as fresh eggs, cheeses, meats, bakery, produce and arts and crafts, the Indoor Market will also feature specialty items from the following vendors:  Middle Eastern desserts from Egyptian Delights; and Italian treats including sauces, pastas and cannoli from Spegash, LLC.

Additionally, this year’s Indoor Market will highlight a series of rotating vendors on various weeks, including cupcakes from Fat Girlz Bakin'; repurposed silverware into jewelry by Silver Wear; and maple syrup and canned goods by Beaver Brook Foods.  For more information on dates of rotating vendor appearances, visit Facebook at the Appleton Downtown or Downtown Appleton Food & Fun Fan Pages.

Special programming will also be featured nearly every week at the Market.  Upcoming offerings include: History Fairs presented by the Appleton Historical Society on Dec. 6 and March 7; and a “One Stop Elf Shop,” offered by The Building for Kids Children’s Museum as a shopping boutique for children to purchase holiday gifts ranging in price from $2 to $10 for family and friends. The shop will be open from 10 a.m. to noon each Market Saturday beginning Nov. 15 through Dec. 20.

Family Day Downtown is slated for Saturday, Nov. 22, and as part of the day’s festivities, the Market will offer Cookie Decorating with Mrs. Claus and Story time sessions by the Appleton Public Library between 10 a.m. and noon.

Youth vendors will return for Kids Market days, the third Saturday of the month, beginning January 17 and continuing each month through May.

City Center restaurants will also offer breakfast and lunch specials and Downtown merchants and museums will be open for business.
