The Art of Phyllis Verhyen at the Indoor Farm Market

The Award Winning Artist, Phyllis Verhyen, has been a successful artist with over 40 years of experience. Starting in 1977 as a sign business owner on College Avenue, serving many area Fox Valley accounts for 23 years. To enhance her drawing and portrait painting skills, she attended the Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art.  After 3 ½ years of intensive study and graduated in 2008. Continuing education included outdoor plein air painting, adding new color study and insight, as a Water’s Edge Artist member.

"Emily's Pretty Pose" is an oil painting of one of my granddaughters. This almost life size portrait it is 48" high x 24" wide.

Phyllis has achieved her goals to paint any subjects she desires in oil, acrylic and hand lettered signs. Her “Appleton Farm Market” oil painting is her claim to fame. The painting was awarded the Best In Show in the Appleton Farmer’s Market Trout Meusum 2011 Plein Air Exhibit, in conjunction with the Jack Richeson Gallery, Kimberly. This painting was also the featured cover in both the DOWNTOWN APPLETON GUIDE 2014 and the FARM FRESH ATLAS of Eastern Wisconsin 2015.
