Friday, May 20th - One Great Window
Featured artist Amii John (Cherokee) is a First Nations Artist specializing in beadwork and painting.
Mrs. John has been under the guidance of traditional teachers for the past 20 years. During this time, she has learned both the techniques necessary to make traditional works and the aesthetic importance which symbolizes Native culture.
In addition to her traditional training, Mrs. John has a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. She graduated summa cum laude from UW-Green Bay. During her time there, she focused on fiber arts, painting and education as it pertains to Native Art.
She has won numerous awards and continues to generate enthusiasm in her community with her unique and well made objects. She resides on the Oneida Nation reservation with her husband and three children.
