Golden Legacy: Original Art from 65 Years of Golden Books Exhibition on Display at The Trout Museum of Art
With more than 60 masterpieces of original illustration art chosen from the vast Random House archives, the exhibit features the work of some of twentieth-century America’s leading illustrators. Works on display come from picture book classics such as The Poky Little Puppy, Home for a Bunny, The Great Big Fire Engine Book, The Little Red Hen and more. Guests will enter the museum through a book frame archway, created by the community at the Downtown Appleton Farm Market and attendees of the 56th Annual Art at the Park.
Throughout the exhibition, The Trout Museum of Art will host several related events and activities, including Little Golden Books Children’s Story and Activity Time on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. with special guests Elsa from Frozen, Mayor Tim Hanna of Appleton, Local 5 LIVE! co-host Lisa Malak and WIXX on-air personality Fife.
Families are also invited to Saturday Morning Cartoons at The Trout Museum of Art on Saturday, October 1 from 9-10 a.m. In addition to watching Looney Tunes and Aladdin in the museum gallery with complimentary cereal, kids wearing pajamas will receive free admission with a paid adult.
The Trout Museum of Art will also hold bookmaking classes for children and adults with guest artist Michelle Sharp:
- Small Bookmaking: Thursdays, September 8-October 13, 6-7:30 p.m. (adult class)
- Art Journaling: Mondays, September 19-October 17, 5-7 p.m. (ages 11-14)
- Codex Bookmaking: Tuesdays, October 4-November 1, 6-8 p.m. (adult class)
