For those who love to preview the latest runway looks for the upcoming season and partake in fun, fashion-related activities, we are thrilled to debut a new event dubbed Fall Into Fashion Ladies Day on Saturday, October 22. Festivities get underway at 9 a.m. at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel. Tickets are priced at $15 each.
Guests may start the morning by enjoying a coffee bar and pastries before local celebrity models take to the runway at 9:45 a.m. wearing new styles from 12 stores and Downtown Appleton Farm Market vendors. A cash bar will be available, and each attendee will receive a SWAG bag. Guests can search for hidden gems, take advantage of sweet deals offered by local merchants, and enjoy chair massages and a host of other activities.
Showcasing the season’s new trends will be local celebrity models, including Hillary Reynolds of the musical group Peridot, Dawn Nowakowski of Wisconsin Public Television, Adrienne Palm of the Fox Cities Chamber and PULSE, Heather Wessley of Fox Communities Credit Union, Yee Lee Vue of Appleton Public Library and City Café, Song Siebert of Song’s Cuisine, Kathy Gottlieb of Tundraland, Kimberly Baehman of Nutritional Healing, and many others.
Participants will have a chance to scoop up gems in “Digging for Diamonds.” For $20, guests have the opportunity to dig into sand, trying to unearth at least one of the 80 hidden white topaz stones valued at $80 each. Expert Jewelry Repair & Design will be on hand to answer questions about the gemstones, and offer creative design ideas and jewelry making services for those lucky enough to uncover a gem.
Guests also will be able, for an additional $10, to choose a candy bar created especially for the event by Crazy Sweet. Each treat will contain a gift certificate with a value of at least $10, and one lucky winner will select a candy bar containing a $200 in Downtown Appleton gift certificates.
Representatives from the Fox Valley Symphony will be on hand with details and tickets for their upcoming fundraising concert on Saturday, October 29 at the Lawrence Memorial Chapel. The performance, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., is a collaboration between Peridot and the Symphony. Proceeds will benefit the Trina Fund administered by the Women’s Fund for the Fox Valley Region to provide women with a cancer diagnosis reimbursement for travel expenses during treatment.
After the show, guests can browse the special sales and offers in 40 shops and businesses in the downtown and along the riverfront.
