We know the feeling.  It gets to be the end of February and we all are getting a little stir crazy.  While it is true that the staff at Appleton Downtown Inc. has been hard at work making plans for another fabulous summer of fun, we also have a few suggestions to help you survive (and maybe even thrive) until then.

  • The Farm Market continues year-round providing fresh, local fare every Saturday morning inside City Center Plaza.
  • Take the opportunity to learn a new or work on an existing talent.  Downtown businesses offer lessons and classes in paint, bead, ceramics, tile, photography, musical instruments and more!
  • Since you still need to eat, consider yourself lucky that Downtown Appleton has a great variety of restaurants and prices for every budget.  And with more than 20 ethnic restaurants, you could challenge yourself to try a new cuisine each week.
  • Create fun family memories by spending time together playing a new or retro game.  We have stores dedicated to board games and video games plus several other shops offer games and toys.
  • Stop in at one of our museums and learn something new about art, history, or paper.

  • Treat yourself to something nice!.  Whatever that means to you; sweets, candles, flowers, jewelry, a new outfit, a massage, a manicure/pedicure, Downtown Appleton has you covered!
  • Take a break and enjoy a fresh, hot cup of coffee, tea or smoothie from one of the many shops.  They provide comfortable seating and the opportunity to catch up with a friend or enjoy some local art.
  • Stop by your local library and check out the latest book or digital recording, then enjoy.  Or try the local Comic book store, Power House Comics!
  • Attend a show whether it is a Broadway touring production at the beautiful Fox Cities Performing Arts Center or one produced by one of the local arts organizations or offered at Lawrence University, you won’t be disappointed.
  • Spend some time enjoying the beauty of the trails and the Riverfront.  If you’re lucky, you’ll catch some of the local eagles nesting, flying or fishing in the river.
  • If you are looking for a little more excitement, many of the downtown bars and restaurants are making plans to help you celebrate in Irish style for all of St. Patrick’s Day weekend!  Check your favorites on Facebook for more information.
  • Gyms and studios provide classes and opportunities for dance, yoga, fitness, or even floating!  Tone up and be ready for warm weather activities.
