Riverview Gardens Bicycle Drive
The following is presented by Riverview Gardens. Riverview Gardens is a non-profit in Appleton, WI with a mission to provide job training for people in need, to transform their lives and our community.
Riverview Gardens, Inc. is celebrating Earth Week (April 22 thru April 28) by hosting a bicycle drive to support its Earn-A-Bike program. This program is a great opportunity for community members to work together to address a common barrier to employment, which is travel to and from work; or to simply give a person mobility.
Anyone can volunteer for 15 hours at Riverview Gardens in exchange for ownership of a refurbished, commute-worthy bicycle and safety gear (helmet, lock, and light). Once earned, a bicycle can be brought back to the earn-a-bike program for free repairs and tune-ups. Our bike mechanics donate hundreds of hours of their time each year to get bikes road ready and help people in our community roll forward.
The earn-a-bike program has grown since it started in 2013. Over 150 people are anticipated to earn bikes in 2018.
All types of bicycles are welcome and can be dropped off at these locations: Riverview Gardens 1101 S. Oneida St. Appleton; Active Bike & Fitness 1131 N. Badger Ave. Appleton; Affordable Bike 370 E. Coolidge Ave., Appleton; Appleton Bike & Fitness 121 S. State St., Appleton; Chain Reaction Cyclery 818 N. Superior St., Appleton; Cranked Bike Studio, LLC 200 Main St., Neenah; Gear N Up Bicycle Co 1276 W. Winneconne Ave., Neenah.; Recyclist 631 Saundes Rd., Kaukauna; or Schwag 2727 N. Meade St., Appleton.
