Lucky for you, this week is the kick off to Appleton Downtown’s Art on the Town event series - taking place on the third Friday, May through September from 5-8 pm. We invite you to join us this Friday, May 18th to channel your inner creativity!
Enjoy strolling the Ave and be exposed to creative visual arts, performing arts, music, dance and so much more! Stop by the various Downtown businesses to interact with various artists of all mediums while you learn about their specialized skills and see their talent first hand. Perhaps you will even find that new one of a kind piece you’ve been wanting above your fireplace! Plus, you will even have the chance to test out your own creativity with various community projects and opportunities for all!
Kicking off the Art on the Town series, Celebrate Culture will feature performances by Appleton Rock School students in Houdini Plaza. While listening to the young talent within the community, you will also be able to participate in a community project hosted by Lawrence University student group “Artists Building Bridges in Appleton”. Their-interactive project will allow you to share your own culture and what it means to you. The end result will depict the Fox Cities diverse culture created by our very own community members!
While you are walking downtown, take notice of the sidewalk poems, murals and traffic boxes on many of the street corners which are wrapped in cultural art designed by Appleton middle and high school students. Take the time to enjoy the art of food and beverage while you are out as well.
