Wood Signs + DIY Projects
Board & Brush is the place to build on-trend, farmhouse-classic, inspirational pieces of décor for your home, office or cottage. Our DIY workshops walk customers through the entire creative process from raw materials to finished project. We host public and private workshops, birthday and bridal parties, team building events and more!
What inspired you to start your business?
I've always been a crafty person. Even at a young age I always had my hands in projects. My love for creating evolved into my high school years with art, shop, and building construction classes. Now, as an adult, I'm always creating, renovating, and decorating. From Pinterest adventures to large scale DIY projects, I love it all! I used to work in non-profit and corporate management but left the workforce when our #3 was born. She has complex congenital heart disease and required a lot of care her first few years. Let’s just say all that time at home and in doctor's offices and hospitals gave me time to dream about rainbows after the storm. Board & Brush was the perfect fit and has allowed me to pursue what I'm passionate about, get my creative fix, and still have the flexibility I need to raise a young family!

If your business had a theme song, what would it be?
It's a tossup between Takin' Care of Business and Girls Just Want to have Fun 🙂
What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
It's ok, we're all still learning.
What's something about your business nobody knows?
You stumped me. We're pretty transparent around here!
What do you love most about being in Downtown Appleton?
From festivals to Farm Market and everything in-between - there's always something going on! Board & Brush was the perfect complement to Downtown Appleton's already thriving art scene!
What 3 items would you take with you on a deserted island?
My saw, toolbox, and wine.
If you had to describe your business as an animal, which one would it be and why?
A Caffeinated Unicorn. This business is operated primarily by amazing women and fueled with whole lot of coffee. It's a beautiful beast that is strong, fast, and if you've ever taken a workshop with us during the holidays, you know it's also adorned with many colors and a whole lot of glitter ;).
What's the weirdest food you have ever eaten?
