How Music in Downtown Appleton will look this Summer
Thursday nights with live music will look different this year, but the local bands you know and love from the Heid Music Summer Concerts series will begin live-stream performances this week, starting Thursday, July 2. While the series is kicking off a month later than normal, there will still be a total of 13 shows bringing you great local music every Thursday night through September 24.
The Heid Music Summer Concert Series will begin with virtual live-streamed concerts. Viewers will be able to rock out from their homes and backyards, but still support and enjoy live local musicians from the area by tuning to Appleton Downtown’s Facebook Page between 6-8pm each Thursday.
Some local establishments within the downtown district will also be playing the live-stream at their venues so you can enjoy the local music in the downtown district. List of establishments who will have the live-stream up can be found on appletondowntown.org
“Music is good for the body and soul,” states Jennifer Stephany, executive director for Appleton Downtown Inc. “It was important for us to still offer a local music experience this summer. By live-streaming, it offers a way for all to enjoy; whether that is outside on your home patio, in your garage, at a downtown bar/restaurant that is playing the live-stream, there’s a way for the local music to reach you no matter where you are.”
For the health and safety of the community, large gatherings are still on hold for the time being. ADI will continue to monitor guidelines and recommendations in regard to large groups coming together in the hopes that at some point during the 13-week series, general public will be welcomed to enjoy the concerts in person.
Another summer music favorite is the weekly lunchtime music which will be “Lunchtime Live on the Road” for the 2020 season starting a week after the Heid Music Summer Concert Series. In partnership with Mile of Music, each Thursday starting July 9 from 11:30am-1pm, community members can explore a different downtown restaurant with the concert moving between outdoor patios each week featuring a local acoustic musician.
“Attendees can enjoy some local food, local tunes, and some great summer sunshine,” shares Stephany. “Each week, the different venue will provide an exciting new atmosphere. The music will be in an inviting open-air environment at each bar/restaurant who have implemented their own safety guidelines and procedures. Each venue will have its own capacity limits, so be sure to check in directly with them.”
