CONGRATULATIONS TO HARVEY SAMSON ON BEING THIS YEAR'S OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER AWARD WINNER!
The Outstanding Volunteer Award is presented to an individual whose time and commitment to the effort of building a strong downtown highlights him or her as an outstanding volunteer and community advocate.
There's no denying that Harvey Samson is a well-deserving recipient of this award. While his professional career as an Attorney spanned some 45 years, today we celebrate his role as a community leader and volunteer.
It’s not often a community volunteer role lasts more than 28 years – but for this man that’s actually the low end of his time commitments!
As secretary of the Police and Fire Commission since 1983, Harvey is committed to a safe community and supporting those who protect us every day. He is passionate about finding the right officers to join our departments.
As a Member of the Appleton Christmas Parade Committee since 1977 and Assistant Chairperson, Appleton Christmas Parade Committee, since 1980, he works side by side with other committee members to present the City’s Christmas Parade as a magical family experience each and every year!
By the same token he has served as a Member of the Appleton Flag Day Parade Committee since 1982 and took on the Assistant Chairperson seat of, Appleton Flag Day Parade Committee, in 1989. It takes year round planning to produce these events and Harvey kept the committee on task!
Near and dear to ADI's heart is Harvey’s work as Founding Board Member, Appleton Downtown, Inc. (1991); he saw the vision and was willing to support the growth of our strong local economy and Harvey continues to serve as a volunteer every Thursday night at our summer concerts, at Mile of Music, and many other volunteer opportunities over the years.
It’s easy to see how Harvey’s passion drives his commitment to serve behin
d the scenes for the benefit of the community of Appleton and the Fox Cities.
