Bring the Mural to You!
The Downtown Unites mural painted by local artist Irineo Medina in June of 2020 on the corner of Appleton Street and College Avenue has unfortunately been impacted due to unavoidable structural repairs required to the masonry wall where it currently lives.
When building owner, Marcie Harris, started interior renovations to get ready for a new tenant, she, a licensed structural engineer, discovered a deteriorating wall that needed to be immediately rebuilt. Unfortunately, that meant the Downtown Unites mural was irreparably impacted.
“As such, we have been given an opportunity to restore yet another downtown building to its original charm through the re-introduction of the historic windows to this space,” shares Marcie Harris. “My husband, Jim and I loved the mural and its representation for our City so much that we have commissioned Irineo to produce another mural for our community in 2021.”
Artist, Irineo Medina states, “Sometimes things come apart so better things can come together. I am looking forward to breathing new life into the downtown unites mural while still giving a place for its original intent to stand proudly in our landscape.”
